Hero MotoCorp raises Rs 8.6 crore for its centenary auction, announces customer contest

Only 100 examples of the Hero Centennial were made, 75 of which were sold at auction.

About two months ago, Hero MotoCorp announced the auction of the ‘Centennial’, an exclusive collector’s edition motorcycle based on the Hero Karizma XMR. With only 100 units produced, the Centennial was made to commemorate the legacy of Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Hero MotoCorp. Out of the 100 units, 75 were auctioned and collectively fetched Rs. 8.6 crore, with the highest bid being Rs. 20.30 lakhs. The remaining 25 motorcycles will be displayed at Hero MotoCorp premises and will be given away through competitions to employees and customers.

The overwhelming response to ‘The Centennial’ reflects the deep admiration and respect for our Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal. This masterpiece embodies his values and is a lasting tribute to the remarkable legacy he left behind. My father was deeply committed to giving back to society, and his principles and vision continue to inspire the institutions he founded. I express my sincere gratitude to the entire Hero community for their generous contributions, which have helped raise funds for charitable initiatives. In line with our ‘customer first’ philosophy, we are delighted to offer this masterpiece to our most valued stakeholders – our over 118 million customers across the globe – through an AI-powered contest, Dr. Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman, Hero MotoCorp.

The Centennial looks futuristic in every way. It boasts of a unique design that uses exquisite materials like carbon fiber and aluminum. Some of the design highlights include an aluminum swingarm, along with anodized handlebars, bar mounts, triple trees, and rear footpegs. The single-seater design with a carbon fiber seat cowl gives the Centennial a stunning look. It will also house a special edition badge made of milled aluminum. Adding to its appeal are diamond-cut alloy wheels and contrast paint for the engine and frame. It features adjustable suspension with 43mm USD forks at the front and an Akrapovic carbon fiber silencer. Compared to the Karizma XMR, the Centennial benefits from a weight reduction of 5 kg, tipping the scales at 158 kg.
