Police seek suspects in Bronx assault, carjacking

BRONX, NY — Police are investigating an assault and carjacking that occurred early Sunday morning in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. Authorities say a 28-year-old man was attacked by three unidentified individuals near Park Avenue and East 187th Street.

The incident occurred around 4:55 a.m. on September 1. Police reported that the victim was approached by the three individuals who argued with her before striking her. One of the suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

Descriptions of the suspects have been released. The first individual is described as having an athletic build, with long black hair and a beard, wearing a white t-shirt, ripped blue jeans and white sneakers. The second suspect is described as thin, with a beard, wearing a black t-shirt, gray sweatpants and black sneakers. The third individual is also described as thin, wearing a black t-shirt, a black Yankees baseball cap, gray jeans and black sneakers.

The victim did not suffer serious injuries. New York police are continuing their search for the suspects and the stolen vehicle.

  • New York police seek public’s help in locating missing Bronx teen

    NEW YORK — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 15-year-old boy from the Bronx.

    The missing teenager, Aden White, was last seen on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., near his residence at 1715 Lacombe Avenue, located in the 43rd Precinct, police said.

    White is described as a man standing 5’8″, weighing approximately 160 pounds, with brown dreadlocks. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing black pants, a green Nike hoodie and black and green sneakers.

    The NYPD has released an image of White and is urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.

  • One dead, four hospitalized in Maryland crash

    LANHAM, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday night in Prince George’s County, killing one person and sending four others to the hospital. The crash happened on the outer loop of Interstate 495 at Route 50.

    Ayuk Etta, 40, of Lanham, was identified as the deceased. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Prince George’s County Fire and EMS personnel. Etta was standing outside his vehicle when the crash occurred.

    The incident, reported around 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 15, involved a 2016 Honda Pilot and a 2018 Mercedes sedan. Preliminary findings indicate the Honda was traveling northbound on I-495 when it lost control and struck the rear of the Mercedes, which was stopped on the left shoulder.

    Two passengers in the Mercedes, Miranda Nembo, 39, and Mayah Nembo, 24, were taken to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center and later released. Their relationship to each other and to the driver, Etta, has not been confirmed.

    The Honda was carrying five male passengers, all friends from Prince George’s County. The driver, Biruk Grimes, 19, and two passengers, ages 18 and 19, refused medical attention. Two others, Olauwadamilola Fatokun, 18, and a 17-year-old, were taken to Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center for treatment.

    The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
