National Retailer Hires 100,000 Workers With Starting Pay of Up to an Hour

A national retailer is looking to bolster its staff ahead of the holiday season.

Target said it will hire about 100,000 workers before the holiday season, with pay of up to $24 an hour.

In a statement, the Minnesota-based chain said the new hires will join some 400,000 existing employees across 2,000 stores and more than 50 positions in supply chain warehouses. Current workers will also be offered the opportunity to work extra hours during the holidays, and others will join the 45,000-person On Demand team, a group of workers who can pick up extra shifts at their leisure.

“We look forward to welcoming new seasonal employees to the Target team as we continue to build the best team in retail. Many seasonal team members, including more than half of last year’s team members, are being offered the opportunity to stay with Target after the holiday season and continue to bring daily joy to our guests throughout the year,” the company said in a statement.

Starting pay for the positions will be $15-24 per hour with access to benefits and a 10% discount on Target merchandise.

In-store positions will include greeters, online fulfillment, merchandising, food and beverage, and apparel. Order pickup and drive-thru employees are also needed. In supply chains, positions will include warehouse operations roles.

Last year, the company said, about half of seasonal workers were offered full-time positions after the holidays.
