Oregon Shakespeare Festival announces new executive director

After a series of leadership changes and fundraising concerns put the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s season last year at risk of cancellation, the 90-year-old theater company is entering a new act. Gabriella Calicchio, who was selected following a national search, will become the company’s new executive director in November.

Calicchio will take the place of Tyler Hokama, who was appointed interim executive director in June 2023 among several Staff departures and layoffs within the Ashland theater company. She will spend the next few months working closely with Hokama and senior staff as she familiarizes herself with the role, according to a statement released Tuesday.
