George Clooney has a message for Trump

George Clooney sends a message to former President Trump after hurling insults at the actor this summer.

Clooney responded Tuesday to Trump’s July Truth Social post, telling the actor to “get out of politics and get back to television.”

“I’ll do it if he does it,” Clooney joked on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” prompting laughter and cheers from the audience.

In July, Clooney wrote an op-ed in The New York Times calling on President Biden to drop out of the White House race after a disastrous debate performance. Clooney, a staunch Democratic supporter, had held fundraisers for Biden’s campaign before the op-ed was published.

Clooney also addressed Kimmel’s op-ed Tuesday night and congratulated Biden on his decision.

“The fact is, it’s very difficult to give up power, and President Biden has done something truly extraordinary,” he said.

Kimmel also asked if Clooney had thought about whether Trump would sue him if he were elected to the White House in November.

“Yeah, I did, but I just take comfort in the fact that he goes after you first. I know this theory that you don’t have to be faster than the bear, you just have to be faster than the kid,” Clooney joked. “You’re that kid.”

Kimmel then asked if Clooney could write another op-ed, but this time targeting Trump.

“Have you thought about writing an op-ed in the Times asking him to resign because it worked once? Why not try again?” Kimmel joked.

Just days after Clooney wrote the op-ed for The New York Times, Biden revealed on July 21 that he was withdrawing from the presidential race and endorsing Kamala Harris. Since then, Harris has closed the gap in many national and battleground state polls as she tries to woo voters.
