Why did Megadeth cancel their Henrico concert just hours before they were due to go on stage?

Fans of thrash metal band Megadeth were both shocked and disappointed Sunday afternoon when the band suddenly announced that its concert at Virginia Credit Union Live in Henrico would not take place.

“Due to unexpected and unforeseeable circumstances, our show TONIGHT, Sunday, September 15th, in Richmond, Virginia has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled,” the band posted on social media.

The announcement was posted about two hours before the venue was scheduled to open to fans, some of whom traveled from out of state to see the legendary show. Adding to the confusion, the venue first posted the cancellation announcement on its social media channels and then deleted the post.

The room then shared the group’s announcement post.
