Zayn Malik Drives Fans Wild By Announcing First-Ever Solo Tour After Decade Of Battling Stage Fright And Anxiety

Zayn Malik is embarking on his first-ever solo tour, hitting the road in the UK and US.

The One Direction star confirmed the exciting news during his appearance on US radio show Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night.

During the surprise appearance, the British singer handed Jimmy a note that read: “Hey Jimmy, nice to see you mate. I’m heading out on my first ever solo tour this fall, so maybe when you’re done apple picking with your mates you can come check out my Stairway To The Sky tour across the US and UK.”

“I’m making an official announcement tomorrow morning, let me know what date you want tickets for.”

Zayn recently performed at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, but this will be his first major tour since leaving One Direction.

The March performance in London was also the first time he took to the stage since leaving the boy band.

He has booked concerts but then canceled in the years since leaving the successful boy band, explaining how his anxiety skyrockets when he is on stage.

In his 2016 memoir, the singer discussed his struggles with stage fright and anxiety: “I found it really frustrating that even now that I was open about the problem, some people still found reasons to doubt it,” he said.

“But that’s the job.” He said being in One Direction helped him overcome his anxiety, but as a solo artist he felt overwhelmed.

“As a solo artist, I felt much more exposed, and the psychological stress of performing had become too much for me, at least at that point,” he writes.
