The most stylish 2024-25 kits you probably missed

A new season always brings a new batch of kits to admire with envy, as clubs around the world change their look in a bid to separate fans and shirt lovers from their hard-earned cash.

You’re probably already familiar with the home, away and third kits released by clubs in the top leagues for the 2024-25 campaign – many of which have already been assessed and ranked over the past few weeks in our rankings of the kits released by every Premier League team and clubs from other top European divisions competing in the UEFA Champions League.

However, in our never-ending quest to find the best jerseys available, we’ve also combed through other leagues around the world in search of the perfect jersey. From Mexico to Greece to Brazil, here’s our pick of a dozen of the most stylish, chic and debonair football jerseys you’ll find anywhere this season.

Because they are all so gorgeous, we’ve simply listed them in alphabetical order.

Athens Kallithea, house (Kappa)

No stranger to stylish kits courtesy of manufacturer Kappa, Greek Super League side Athens Kallithea have once again produced a beautifully refined home jersey – a smart navy polo shirt with tasteful light blue trim and a touch of red. The club’s white and navy away jersey looks almost as good.

To top it all off, the club is sponsored by the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens (ΕΜΣΤ), which is a fitting logo to feature on the front of a modern Greek classic.

Atletico Clube de Portugal, away (Lacatoni)

Promoted to La Liga 3 for the first time in their history in 2022-23, Lisbon-based Atlético CP are now firmly established in the third tier of Portuguese football and have celebrated their promotion by donning a pair of stunning kits for the new campaign.

The one that comes to mind is the 1970s-inspired one. It features a V-neck and a dark blue shirt collar on a clean white base, thanks to the absence of a sponsor. A multi-coloured chevron ribbon runs across the chest and shoulders, mirroring the red, blue and yellow stripes on the club’s triangular crest. Very nice!

Augsburg, third (Mizuno)

Bundesliga club Augsburg have released a trio of stunning kits for the 2024-25 campaign, but their finest work is the wine-red third jersey, inspired – as you might guess from the publicity photos – by the Roman Empire.

The fabric features a graphic relief print that depicts various Roman artefacts that have been discovered in and around the Bavarian city of Augsburg over the years. Unsurprisingly, the sublime jersey has proven instantly popular with fans, with the club having already had to restock it several times to meet the extraordinarily high levels of demand since its launch in early August.

Cancun FC, away (Adidas)

Resplendent in white and gold with a design that the club says is inspired by “sacred lands”, Cancun’s away jersey features a delicate hexagonal graphic that evokes images of the golden sands of the Yucatan Peninsula and the Caribbean Sea gently lapping at it.

There’s a certain trend for luxurious white/gold away kits this season (Mainz, Nice, Vitória Setubal and Xolos have all produced similar efforts), but the Mexican second division side’s design is definitely a cut above the rest and pairs perfectly with their mountain-themed home kit.

DAC Dunajská Streda 1904, home (Macron)

DAC finished second in the Slovakian top flight last season, so they will naturally be hoping that the introduction of a super-sharp new home kit will help them reach dizzying heights this time around.

Billed as a “model from the past to serve as an example for the future,” the DAC kit is a tribute to the club’s original home jersey worn in 1904 and retains a simple, clean striped design that is nonetheless distinguished and charming. Add to that their delightfully retro club crest and you’ve got yourself a real winner.

Calcio Latina, away (Ezeta)

The Italian third division club have gone for a very advanced concept with their 2024-25 kits; the blue home and white away kits are both inspired by the classic legend of Odysseus and his interaction with the enchantress Circe.

Featuring a stunning belt, the exterior version features designs taken from a vase supposedly created by Persephone in the 5th century BC. It depicts the meeting of Odysseus and Circe on the island of Aeaea after the Trojan War which resulted in the goddess transforming Odysseus’ crew members into animals. This therefore helps explain the lion.

Levante, third (Macron)

Using their traditional burgundy and blue colours as trim, Levante’s third jersey features a greyed-out checkered pattern which, upon closer inspection, reveals small clusters of pixels, hashes and other interesting flourishes dotted throughout at regular intervals.

It’s really cool – and that was before we knew the club had brought in Valencia-based rapper (and long-time Levante fan) Medina Kid to help launch it.

Palermo, third (Puma)

The base is off-white and the edges of the shirt are dotted with a tasteful multi-colored mosaic that aims to highlight the multicultural makeup of the Sicilian city and its historical importance as a melting pot of Mediterranean culture and commerce.

The club’s contemporary crest was replaced by a vintage variant used between 1979 and 1986, designed by Piero Gratton, the Italian artist who also designed Roma’s classic wolf’s head logo.

Palmeiras, third (Puma)

Celebrating their 110th anniversary in style, Brazilian giants Palmeiras have draped themselves in auric splendour for the new season.

The sparkling third jersey was introduced as a symbol of the “golden years” the club enjoyed during more than a century of existence, during which it became the most decorated and successful club in top-flight Brazilian football.

Sampdoria, third (Macron)

As any football jersey fan will tell you, there’s no such thing as a ‘bad’ Sampdoria jersey, with the Italian club sticking scrupulously to the classic striped design that has served them so well since the 1950s. One version was even selected as one of ESPN’s 101 Greatest Jerseys of All Time.

All three BlucerchiatiThe jerseys feature a decorative motif inspired by the flocked walls of the Palazzi dei Rolli in Genoa, but the navy third jersey is absolutely the most effective canvas for the lush embellishment it provides.

Versailles, outside (Kappa)

Another batch of stunningly elegant designs from Kappa, the Versailles primary and secondary jerseys draw inspiration from the exquisite Regency-era art and craftsmanship on display within the Palace of Versailles.

The blue home shirt features a pattern taken from the castle’s beautiful parquet flooring, but the away kit is the showstopper with its white base covered in a geometric grid pattern based on the magnificent octagonal ‘Cabochon’ tiles that were popular in France during the reign of Louis XV.

Arguably the most stylish jersey to grace this season’s Champions League, the Swiss club have come out on top with a gleaming aquamarine away jersey that’s positively laden with ultra-metallic gold trim.

A visual homage to the clear waters of the Aare River, which flows through Bern and into the Rhine, the body of the jersey features a rippled effect with the shimmering logos meant to replicate the effect of light bouncing off the surface.
