One person was taken into custody after police said he was uncooperative and combative, Norman police said.

Norman police said officers responded to reports of a suspicious individual with a “significant impairment.” Upon contact, the individual was uncooperative and fled officers toward the area of ​​Gray Street and Ponca Avenue.

Police said the individual remained combative and was tased during efforts to arrest him. Nearby schools were placed under a brief security perimeter. The individual is in custody and receiving medical treatment.

Police said there was no active threat to the safety of the schools. Both schools were placed in a security perimeter as a precaution, which has since been lifted.
