Latest heat news: October maps show 30C heat bomb heading for UK | Weather | News

Britons could be in for another heatwave early next month as a 30C heatwave in the Mediterranean heads towards the UK, new maps show.

While the arrival of cold, wet days has many Britons fearing that autumn has well and truly arrived, forecast data collected by wxcharts.com suggests the mild days are not over yet.

On October 2, in popular tourist destinations such as Spain, temperatures will still be very high in many areas, with temperatures reaching up to 30°C in Seville.

But while Britain won’t be experiencing temperatures as mild as our European neighbours, the British Isles still look set to benefit from the warm air blowing across the continent.

Major cities such as London and its environs, Birmingham and Manchester are all expected to see maximum temperatures of 17-19°C. A swathe of inland areas of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape could even reach 20°C, while other parts of England will see maximum temperatures of around 15°C.

Wales is expected to see slightly cooler weather, with highs of 14C and 16C across the country, while Scotland will see temperatures of between 14C and 15C in several areas, including 14C in Edinburgh and 15C in Aberdeen.

Temperatures in Northern Ireland could rise to 14-15°C, the map suggests.

Met Office five day weather forecast

According to the National Weather Agency, northern Scotland will be cloudy tonight and this evening, but elsewhere it should be clear and dry at first.

Cloud will spread to eastern areas in the first few hours and fog patches will form during clear spells, the Met Office says.

On Wednesday, fog patches are expected to clear quickly during the morning, while clouds to the east and south will clear, giving way to a bright day with many sunny spells and a very warm feeling.

In their forecast for Thursday through Saturday, meteorologists predict sunny weather for much of the week, but a developing easterly breeze could introduce scattered clouds.

He warns that there is a risk of showers by Friday in central and southern regions, although it will be warm under the sun.

Flood warnings have been issued for the Essex coast from Clacton to St Peters Flat and the Colne and Blackwater estuaries and the banks of the Tidal Thames from Putney Bridge to Teddington Weir, although the risk of flooding in other parts of England for Tuesday and the next four days is very low.
