Gerry Turner And Joan Vassos they have praised each other since she left The Golden Bachelor.

Joan competed for Gerry’s affections in the first season of the senior spinoff series in 2023, but eliminated herself to care for her daughter, who had just given birth. (Gerry eventually ended his season engaged to Therese Nistwhom he married in January 2024. We Weekly announced that Gerry had filed for divorce the same day they revealed their separation in April.)

Joan shares support for Gerry after Theresa’s divorce

After it was announced that Joan had been cast as the Golden Bachelorette, she opened up about Gerry and Theresa’s divorce in an interview with CNN.

“I was surprised. I loved watching them fall in love,” Joan said. “I believed, as they did, that they were the perfect couple. And I applaud them for jumping into this process and being willing to find love. And they knew what true love was, they had both experienced it in their past lives.”

She continued: “So I applaud them for doing that. And I also applaud them for stopping when they found out that it wasn’t perfect, and it’s not the end of the world. And we have to let them live their path and follow their hearts, but it wasn’t right for them, so they broke up.”

Gerry gave Joan advice before ‘The Golden Bachelorette’

After her casting was announced, Joan revealed that she and Gerry communicate frequently.

“We text all the time. He’s a really, really good friend,” Joan said. Entertainment Tonight in June 2024 by Gerry. “He did that really well. He kind of created the road map that we have now. There’s no rule book, and he kind of wrote it a little bit.”

“He was the epitome of a very open and vulnerable person. He said that’s what you have to be from day one because you don’t have a lot of time,” she continued. “It’s a fast track. You can’t leave anything on the table. I feel like from day one, starting the conversation, everything you do here is important.”

Joan felt “a bit of pressure” to follow in Gerry’s footsteps

Joan admitted she felt “a little pressure” to lead The Golden Bachelorette. “I really wanted it to work,” Vassos said. The Envelope in September 2024. “I wanted it to work authentically.
