Are Jen And Zac Affleck Still Together After ‘Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives’?

“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” has no shortage of scandals, but one moment has been pored over by fans in particular: Jen and Zac Affleck’s intense fight sparked by a Chippendales show in Las Vegas.

Now, the 25-year-old social media influencer is speaking out about her husband’s reaction and the fallout of the fight.

“I think what was wrong about the situation was that he just didn’t trust me, and he didn’t trust that I could navigate the situation,” the mom of two recently told TODAY.com.

Here’s what to know about the fight that shook up the Afflecks and where they stand now.

Wait, so what happened at Chippendales?

In the show, Jen’s friends take her to Chippendales in Las Vegas, a venue known for its male stripteases.

Other cast members rub oil on Chippendales dancers, making Jen visibly uncomfortable. She warns her eyes.

She decides the show was “crossing the line” and says it goes “against everything we believe in as Mormons.” The situation is “disrespectful to her husband” and “her marriage.”

As Jen weighs whether to walk out or go along with the show, she calls her husband, starting an argument that quickly leads to tears.

“Can you just stop for a second and think of me and a person, and my character?” she says on the phone. “I’m a human being and I did nothing wrong in the situation.” Jen tells a friend Zac said he “didn’t want to be married to her” if she “does stuff like this.”

Though Jen decides to leave before the show started, they continue to fight.

The camera zooms in on a text that Zac appeared to send Jen in the fallout of the Chippendales revelation. Viral TikToks released since the show came out decipher the parts of the message that are legible.

“Seriously, I don’t want to hear one more thing about your heart. Start taking accountability for your actions and for the situations you put yourself in. You’re a grown woman,” the text begins. “It doesn’t matter your intentions. You were there, and that’s the image you portray of yourself, your family, church etc.”

TODAY.com has reached out to Zac Affleck for comment.

Looking back on the moment, Jen told TODAY.com she thought her husband’s anger had more to do with “the context of the situation.”

“If we were at a bachelorette party and we’re just celebrating, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But because we’re representing our church, and (I think) he knew that millions of people were going to see that, (he was) scared that they would put me in a tough situation with filming, and that they would portray me in a different light that I’m not,” she said.

In hindsight, she said the public fight taught them a lesson.

“At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what other people think,” she said.

Are Zac and Jen Affleck still together? Jen said the fight ‘strengthened’ her marriage

Shortly after “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” premiered, Jen took to TikTok to acknowledge that appearing on the show was difficult.

“Lets just say this 1st season was rough for us,” she captioned a video of herself and her husband.

Jen has confirmed in interviews that she and Zac are still together. In an interview with Decider, Jen said the Chippendales fight “strengthened” her marriage

“I definitely think that we both learned so much and we both saw where we went wrong,” she said.

The reality star also said that “no marriage is perfect.”

“There are a lot of times where I’m going to fall short and he’s going to have to pick up the rest of the pieces and there are moments where he’s going to fall short and I’m going to have to pick up those pieces And it was definitely one of those moments for me,” she said.

The couple started therapy after filming the show

When the Afflecks stopped filming “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” they sought professional counseling.

“Since filming, we’ve done therapy nonstop. If we continue in our relationship, there are changes that need to be made. If they’re not made, we might have to… look at other options. But as of right now, I do think he’s trying his best to make those changes,” Jen told Vulture.

In her interview with Decider, the mother of two said therapy has helped her and Zac “set so many boundaries moving forward.”

Jen addressed Zac’s gambling

In the show, Jen’s friends learn that Zac was out gambling at the same time he was judging Jen for going to a Chippendales show. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints considers gambling “morally wrong.”

In an interview with Vulture, Jen addressed her husband’s gambling habit.

“It’s definitely taboo in Mormon culture, but I have many friends in the Church that gamble. It’s a fun, light-hearted thing,” she said.

Is Jen still in #MomTok? The ‘pressure’ she feels as breadwinner

The series also explores the pressures Jen faces as the family’s provider while Zac is in medical school.

“I want to be able to provide for my family, provide for my husband to get through medical school,” Jen told TODAY.com in an interview. “I feel a lot of pressure. So many people are leaning on me.”

Still, her future in #MomTok, the group of Mormon women who make TikTok content together, isn’t clear. Her co-star Mayci Neeley weighed in on Jen’s status in the group in an interview in Variety.

“Time will tell with her leaving MomTok. I actually haven’t had that conversation. I don’t think she will — because she loves MomTok, so I can’t picture her leaving,” Neeley told Variety.
