Javier Bardem terrifies his fans in his latest detective novel…

While the two titular young men appear to be portrayed in sympathetic yet quivering ways, it’s their parents’ performances that seem like they could really grab the audience’s attention.

These incredibly evil characters are played by Javier Bardem (José Menendez) and Chloë Sevigny (Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez). It’s clear that they both had a lot of fun playing the parents who made it clear that they didn’t care about their sons in the slightest.

Bardem, in particular, seems to be returning to the kind of menacing menace he became so famous for after his breathtaking role as the utterly ruthless hitman Anton Chigurh in There is no country for old people. For the Monsters Later on, however, there will be real feelings behind his eyes, which might even make things scarier to watch.

Sevigny, meanwhile, drops some absolutely explosive lines – even in the few minutes of the latest trailer, including some lovely thoughts about how she wishes she’d never had her sons – right in their faces.

So this is clearly another big series in Netflix’s ongoing push to become the best streaming service for true crime fans, a race it’s running pretty well. The series is also imminent, as it begins streaming on September 19th – and you can expect it to climb the Netflix charts as soon as it’s available.
