Queen Margrethe’s injuries after palace fall revealed

Queen Margrethe’s injuries after palace fall revealed

Queen Margrethe shocked the Danish nation on Wednesday when it was revealed she had suffered a fall at her home at Fredensborg Palace.

A spokesman for the Danish royal family said the queen had been admitted to the capital’s university hospital for observation following the incident.

On Friday, a new update was shared, revealing that the monarch will be out for some time following her accident.

A message on social media read: “Her Majesty Queen Margrethe left Rigshospitalet today and is now back at her home, Fredensborg Palace.”

“On Wednesday evening, Queen Margrethe was hospitalized after a fall which unfortunately resulted in an injury to the vertebrae of the neck as well as a fracture of the left hand. Following this fall, the left hand is now in a cast and the Queen will have to wear a neck brace in the coming months,” the statement said.

The Queen’s health appears to be worrying, but the palace has assured royal fans that she is doing well. “Queen Margarethe is in good spirits and is doing well in the current circumstances, but will be on sick leave for a longer period.”

Asked when the Queen will return to the public eye, it was confirmed: “It also means that the Queen’s attendance at a number of events is cancelled for some time yet.”

Loyal royals were quick to send their well wishes, with the post’s comments section flooded with concern and love.

The past few years have been difficult for the 84-year-old Queen, health-wise. In February 2023, the Queen underwent “major back surgery,” which led to her decision to abdicate. In her New Year’s Speech at the end of 2023, the Queen said of her surgery and decision to step down: “It went well, thanks to the skilled nursing staff who looked after me. Of course, the operation also gave rise to thoughts about the future – was it time to hand over responsibility to the next generation?”

Although Queen Margarethe is set to rest for the next few weeks, she remains in the spotlight constantly, attending meetings and public engagements, and will surely be missed during her convalescence.
