South Korean production ‘Music Bank’ demands apology from Spanish football club Real Madrid for canceling concert at Santiago Bernabeu stadium

SEOUL, September 21 — KBS Music Bank The overseas concert scheduled for next month at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid has been abruptly cancelled by Spanish football club Real Madrid.

A statement released by the production team on Thursday demanded an official apology and explanation from Real Madrid CF, expressing deep frustration at the sudden cancellation of the Madrid date.

“We deeply regret Real Madrid’s unilateral decision to cancel the concert. We cannot accept the club’s arbitrary decision, taken unfairly and without any prior discussion,” the statement said.

The concert, Music Bank in Madridwas scheduled to be held at the Spanish club’s stadium on October 12, with a lineup of eight Kpop groups including Enhypen, aespa, BoyNextDoor, Riize, Nmixx, Mamamoo+ and P1Harmony, reported Herald of Korea.

Around 33,000 fans from 87 countries are said to have purchased tickets for the event.

On September 13, Real Madrid announced via its official website and Spanish media that it had “provisionally decided to reschedule its events and concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.”

“This decision is part of a series of measures that the club has put in place to ensure strict compliance with municipal regulations in force during concerts.”

While the club said new dates would be announced soon for the Dellafuente, Aitana and Lola Indigo concerts that were originally scheduled to take place in November, December and March 2025 respectively, it said Music Bank in Madrid scheduled for October 12 has been cancelled.

THE Music Bank The production team said that “Real Madrid has not made any official request or discussion with the organisers regarding the cancellation of the concert”, adding that despite the announcement being made six days ago, no official explanation or apology has been provided by the club and that the situation is “extremely shocking and incomprehensible”.

The team demanded that the club take “ethical and financial responsibility for the damages arising from the cancellation of the concert to Kpop fans and artists who invested a considerable amount of time and money to attend the concert.”

He said that even if the concert were to go ahead, both parties should “make every effort not to disappoint K-pop fans,” including adjusting the timing of performances and minimizing noise.
