Hee Haw fun in Kornfield Kounty is BACK! | News, Sports, Jobs

Get ready for more Heeeeeee Haaaaaaw! The Mid-Ohio Valley is again in for a real korny treat on Friday, Sept. 27, at 7 pm, Saturday, Sept. 28, at 7 pm and Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 pm at the Actors Guild of Parkersburg at Eighth and Market streets.

The show will be another fun-filled family variety spinoff of the television show from the 1970s through the 1990s.

The show will feature Roy Clark Jr., a Parkersburg local, and his sons, Caleb and Josiah. They will sing and play guitar, mandolin, and bass on songs like “Down Yonder” and “Daisy a Day.” Roy Clark Jr. is the son of the late, great Roy Clark of the original Hee Haw show and banjo player extraordinaire.

The show will include a live stage band including local string artists Rebecca Traugh and Dan Murray on fiddle and banjo. Greg Strauss will sing Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman” and play bass guitar throughout the show as Buck Owens. Other special musical guests include Tim Wilson as Conway Twitty crooning “Hello Darlin’,” Reinnie Leavitt as Loretta Lynn doing “You’re the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly,” Dave Roberts as Johnny Cash singing “Jackson,” and Sherry Wilson Braid as Patsy Cline singing “Sweet Dreams.” Gospel quartet favorites include “Church in the Wildwood” and “I’ll Fly Away.”

This show is loaded with good clean comedy skits and amazing local talent performing familiar skits such as Pfft! You Were Gone, Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me, and Gossip Girls with performances by traditional Hee Haw character reenactments of Grandpa Jones, Minnie Pearl, Charlie Fahrquarson, and Junior Samples, just to name a few. Local celebrities, including Kiki Angelos and Pam Creel will chime in on some of these favorite skits.

Down-home concessions will be sold in the lobby, including freshly popped popcorn and chocolate chip cookies. Beverages offered for donation will be beer, wine, and bottled water.

Come on out and join the Actors Guild of Parkersburg in Kornfield Kounty for a country jamboree good time to support our local community theater in this korny fundraiser. I enjoyed participating in the production of “Hee Haw” last year so I am excited to be a part of the production again this year for the Guild fundraiser.

The Actors Guild is a great contribution to our community and involves many of our very talented citizens who volunteer their time and efforts to present various productions for our Mid-Ohio Valley.

“Hee Haw” will bring memories and beautiful songs that many of you will recognize and enjoy … So bring your family and friends for an enjoyable evening of entertainment and purchase your tickets as soon as possible.

A little special addition at the intermission will be the opportunity to purchase a piece of my homemade delicious Baklava. (I however do not promise to take the calories out of the Baklava). LOL!

See ya then, Hee Haw!

Until next week.
