Reward offered as family seeks answers in deaths of two men on Delco Highway: ‘We are heartbroken’

A public appeal for help and a reward are being offered in the double homicide of two men along Blue Route in Delaware County last week.

Clinton Martin’s family has joined Pennsylvania State Police in asking for the public’s help in finding Martin’s killer. The 29-year-old Lansdowne man was shot while driving home from work, exiting the northbound I-95 ramp onto I-476 in Ridley Township, Friday night shortly after 9:30 p.m.

“It’s tough and it’s like the officer said, it was insane. He was just coming home from work. He had just gotten off his shift. It’s tough,” said Martin’s stepfather, Frederick Newton.

“We were supposed to meet up that night to go out and have fun. I thought he was going to come get me and that’s the last I heard from him,” added his sister Clinita Martin.

Martin was driving home from work in a blue 2010 Mazda 5 when someone in another vehicle shot him in the neck through the window of his car.

A quarter-mile later, his car crashed into a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu that had stalled on the side of the highway, according to state police. The driver, identified as Joshua Waltz, 33, of Odessa, Delaware, was standing in the back of his vehicle when he was struck. Both men were killed.

“The actions of the person who shot at Mr. Martin’s vehicle contributed to and caused the senseless deaths of two men. Two men who didn’t even know each other. Two men going about their own business,” said Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Jonathan Sunderlin.

State police have announced a $4,000 reward for information leading to the case. Investigators are asking anyone with information who was traveling on northbound I-95 and the Blue Route in Delaware County between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday night to come forward. Specifically, they are asking anyone with video.

“I know that many truck and Tesla drivers have dash cams. We ask that anyone who has them let us know,” Sunderlin added.

Police don’t know if Martin was targeted or the victim of road rage. His mother, Constance Newton, just knows her hard-working, fun-loving “gentle giant” isn’t coming home and she’s pleading for closure over her son’s death.

“If anyone has any information or saw anything on Friday night, please come forward. Because we are heartbroken. We are still trying to piece together the fact that my son is not coming back,” she said.

State police told FOX 29 the other victim, Joshua Waltz, was engaged and the couple had a 5-month-old child.

On Friday night, friends, family and co-workers gathered outside the Dollar General store in Clifton Heights for a balloon release commemorating Martin’s recent promotion to manager of his own store.
