What to do in Wellesley the weekend of September 20-22

Wellesley Square Merchants AssociationWellesley Square Merchants Parents’ Day is a chance for everyone to take advantage of special offers from participating merchants in the square. On Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21, many stores in the area will be offering discounts and deals, so be sure to stop by to shop, dine, and enjoy Wellesley Square.

All this and free 2-hour parking at bagged meters both days in and around the square, courtesy of the City of Wellesley. (Parking fees still apply at all non-bagged meters and in municipal lots.)

Wellesley Theatre ProjectThe Wellesley Theatre Project presents How to Train Your Dragon: The Musical, Jr. Shows will run September 20-22 at the WTP Studio Theatre, 219 Washington St. Tickets here.

Based on the DreamWorks animated film, How to train your dragon features the adventures of Hiccup and Toothless. This heartwarming coming-of-age story follows Hiccup, a teenage misfit from the village of Berk who can’t kill a dragon. Sent to dragon-fighting school, he tries to prove himself, but instead develops an unlikely friendship with Toothless, a wounded dragon. Together, the dynamic duo strives to end the war between dragons and Vikings, while showing us that being a true hero means being true to yourself.


Kids’ Hiking Day at Morses Pond

Join the Wellesley Trails Committee on September 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to celebrate fall and invite your children into the woods for fun and nature exploration. Children will search for treasure boxes using the mailbox (written clues).

Refreshments served at the end of activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Meet at the Morses Pond Beach parking lot. From Weston Road, follow Turner Road to the Morses Pond entrance.

● Free. No registration required.
● Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes.
● Walks take place except in cases of heavy rain or strong wind.


MassHort Flower Show

The Massachusetts Horticultural Society (MHS) will host the 138th New England Fall Flower Show on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Garden at Elm Bank in Wellesley, MA. Tickets here.

The theme is “Heritage and Hope,” meaning the show draws simultaneously on the nearly 200-year history of the MHS and the legacy of the Flower Show as well as the limitless possibilities of the future.

Juried competition categories include amateur horticulture, junior horticulture, floral design, botanical arts, photography and miniature gardens. All are invited to submit their works for the judged amateur and junior horticulture competitions.
