Arrest after 33-year-old man pulls gun during road rage incident

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – A 33-year-old man was arrested after pulling out a gun during a road rage incident in West Hartford.

The incident occurred yesterday at 7:22 a.m. on I-84 westbound in the area of Exit 43.

State police said the victim reported he was driving in the left lane of three on I-84 when another driver in a Nissan Altima began weaving in and out of lanes, eventually merging in front of them.

The victim honked his horn and the Nissan braked sharply in response, police said.

The victim then made a “hand gesture” toward the driver of the Nissan Altima, at which point the driver pointed a gun at him through the driver’s side window.

The victim told police they slowed down to avoid the escalation, but the driver gestured with his hand to suggest they pull their vehicle alongside his.

The victim slowed down further and called 911.

When he met with police, the victim gave them a description of the suspect vehicle, the license plate and a description of the driver.

Using this information, the suspect was identified as Kewon Rondell Bank, 33, of Manchester.

Police contacted Banks who agreed to meet with officers.

Police say Banks admitted to pulling out a gun during the incident, but only did so because he thought the victim was reaching for something.

Banks was arrested and charged with uttering threats and disturbing the peace.

He was released on $5,000 bail and is expected to appear in court next month.
