“Ruben is a long-time employee of Jim’s at the tire shop,” Prez explained, as he noted the impending dynamic that would unfold between Ruben and the new employee, Georgie.

“Georgie is young and inexperienced and Ruben has feelings about that,” Prez shared. As for what viewers should expect from their dynamic, Prez said he’s excited “to see how their frenemy dynamic plays out.”

Additionally, Baldwin reprises the role originated by Joe Apollonio in Young SheldonThe episode of , “A Baby Shower and Testosterone-Rich Banter.” As Mandy’s brother, Baldwin said, “It’s super surreal… Chuck (Lorre) really creates a family environment and he hires nice people… It’s a great way to do comedy to have nice, normal people. And so everyone has been super welcoming and super, super nice.”

The actor also acknowledged that he was Australian at the conference, as he jokingly told his colleagues: “I do a voice on the show.”

As for what fans can expect from the less science-focused storylines of this latest spinoff, executive producer Steve Holland said, “These stories feel very real and relevant to us.” He also noted, “It feels like we’re part of the same universe, but this other little part of it has been fun.” Holland admitted, “After writing about science and scientists for so many years, it’s kind of a relief to not have to do that.”

Even without the science, there is a certain familiarity, as the executive producer told reporters: “It’s Young Sheldon in a slightly different format than before. But I think all the things that people loved will still be there.
