State police arrested a Worcester man following an apparent road rage incident that turned dangerous when he allegedly fired a pellet gun at another vehicle Thursday morning.

Daniel Ochoa, 39, pleaded not guilty in Worcester District Court to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to court records. He was ordered held on $1,000 cash bail.

The court ordered Ochoa taken to the Worcester County Jail.

Before 7 a.m., Massachusetts State Police officers responded to reports of a road rage incident on Route 146 in Millbury.

According to state police, other reports indicate the driver of a red Honda Civic fired a handgun at another motorist.

While conducting a check of the area, Millbury police located the driver on River Street and arrested Ochoa while troopers responded to the scene.

During a search of Ochoa’s vehicle, officers reported finding a black pellet gun that strongly resembled a real firearm near the Honda.

Police also questioned the alleged victim of the incident and found that the passenger window of his car was broken.

Following a preliminary investigation, Massachusetts State Police arrested Ochoa. He is scheduled to return to court on October 15 for his preliminary appearance.
