NBC News political correspondent Steve Kornacki revealed that his mother, Anne, had passed away. Many people offered their condolences after Kornacki wrote on his Instagram account about her passing.

Kornacki, 45, shared a photo of himself as a child with his mother, Anne B. (Ramonas) Kornacki, saying, “I found this photo and gave it to my mom for her birthday a few years ago. I look at it and see love, care, and happiness (and probably a little worry about spilling soda).”

“And that’s how I’ve felt my whole life. I lost her on Friday. I’m so lucky she got to see so much of my life, even though there was never enough time. No offense to anyone, but my mom was the best mom ever.”

Among those who commented, Kornacki’s sister Katie said: “Sorry but my mom was the best mom. You and I were so lucky to have her ❤️.”

In an article published on X, Kornacki published an obituary of his mother from a local newspaper. It states that she died at the age of 77, “unexpectedly on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine with her family by her side.”

Anne was a former Connecticut state social worker and worked “primarily with child protective services until she left after the birth of her children to devote her time to her family.”

She married Stephan J. Kornacki Sr. in 1973, and they have been together ever since. The couple ran their own bed and breakfast in Wiscasset, Maine, from 1998 to 2005. After selling the business, they moved to Brunswick, Maine.

“Anne is survived by her husband, Steve; her daughter and granddaughter, Katie Kornacki and Anne Kornacki-Speid of Hartford, Conn.; and her son Steve Kornacki Jr. and his partner Brian Duffy of New York.”

Anne’s funeral is today.

The official Instagram account of Today’s show also shared the news about Kornacki, prompting many other messages of condolence.
