Was this the first NFL game where one team scored solely on kicks and the other team didn’t score a single point on kicks? Google was no help. — Jason S.

Hi Jason. Last week’s game was just the second time in NFL history that a team lost by scoring three touchdowns and not giving up any. I hope that answers your question.

In passing situations, the team keeps the halfback to block for the QB. Why not a fullback who is a better blocker? Why not use the fullback to carry the ball a few times during the game and for short passes to keep the defense honest. What are your thoughts on a fullback and how the FB is used? — Joe G.

Joe, putting a tight end there gives the offense more flexibility in terms of the passing game. I think the reason you don’t see the Giants with a fullback type of stinker is because they aspire to be more of a passing attack.

I read an article that the Giants locker room was starting to turn against Daboll and it was as bad as it was in 2017 under McAdoo. Do you agree? — Harvey F.

Harvey, I can only speak for myself. After talking to several players this week, I didn’t get the impression that Brian Daboll was losing the locker room. Is the locker room full of happy campers? No, they’re losing, and if someone is happy, they need to reevaluate what they’re doing.

I don’t agree that it’s as bad as 2017. I covered the team at the time, and I can tell you it was Really It’s bad, with guys shooting each other and criticizing coaches, in public or not. So, no, I don’t think it’s that bad, at least not yet. Now, if the losses increase? Well, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

The interview aired on the Locked On Giants podcast. You can see the full interview here. I will have an article on this as well.

Chris, I think the question people have to ask themselves is: Are they happy to have a quarterback they can win despite, or do they want a quarterback they can’t win without, like Mahomes?

Here’s how I see it. The Giants have been practicing with this system since May. I understand that practice is a very different setting than a game in terms of pace/speed, but by now you’d think they’d at least have the concepts down, right?

So to answer your question, I don’t think they have a replacement for Leonard Williams and the cornerbacks haven’t exactly set the world on fire, so all of that comes into play.

Charles, I certainly hope so. After watching the movie, I can understand what Bobby Okereke means when he says that others are not doing their job. So we will see, because the talents who are on the front lines should have much better results than what they have shown.

No disrespect to Woj, but I never put him on my Mount Rushmore of sportswriters – and I think Woj is the best, having read him way back when he wrote for my local paper.

My Mount Rushmore includes Dave Anderson, Peter King, Jerry Izenberg, and Dick Young, all of whom I read growing up. Honorable mentions go to Bob Glauber and Steve Serby. I also enjoyed Neil Best of News daywhom I have always considered an underrated writer. And I have a deep respect for Jay Glazer, whom I knew when he worked for a small weekly newspaper that covered the Giants.

Who is this? Seriously, at this point, if there was anyone worth calling, wouldn’t they have?

The only consolation I have here is that Andre Patterson is a VERY good coach. He has a lot of young guys to work with, but you give him a chance to work with them and see if he can help them progress.

Hey, the program is what it is.

Bill, paying customers have the right to feel and react however they want within reason, and by that I mean as long as they are not trying to cause physical harm to players and coaches. No one has the right to judge them, lecture them, or say they are overreacting.

My late father was a season ticket holder for nearly 50 years and I remember him coming home in a bad mood after a bad game and thinking it was ridiculous to let a football match influence him in that way. As he grew older I understood the time and money he invested in the game so who was I to tell him how to behave?

Honestly, I don’t know how far this franchise is from winning. I think the jury is still out on the quarterback position, the defensive secondary is in DESPERATE need of corners, and I still wonder about Daboll’s approach to preparing this team this summer by keeping starters out of the final preseason game.

I think this was all part of the salary cap gymnastics. By cutting the bottom-of-the-roster players before Week 1, their salaries weren’t guaranteed for the entire year, even if it meant playing shorthanded (which they could afford since they were healthy at the time). They gave themselves a little more flexibility after that.

I don’t see why Wink Martindale would have anything to do with this. That said, I can’t speak for ESPN. I can only speak for what happens on this site.

Hard to say, Andrew. It could be a combination of both, or it could just be players not doing their jobs as they should. Either way, they better find a solution soon.
