Coyotes caught on camera killing Arlington cat – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Residents of an Arlington neighborhood are expressing concern after two coyotes were caught on camera killing their cat.

Video shared with NBC 5 shows a woman’s cat walking outside at night when two coyotes suddenly attacked it.

The attack happened near Kiowa and North Davis Drives. Neighbors say several cats were attacked in that area.

The city of Arlington said it received a report of a coyote attacking stray cats on Kiowa Drive, and it is encouraging residents to report coyote sightings online.

Residents Carolyn Hagan and Shirley Mattheus expressed concern not only for other pets, but also for children in the neighborhood, especially during Halloween.

“Sometimes it’s 9, 10 or 11 o’clock at night and the kids from the neighborhood come trick-or-treating,” Mattheus says. “That’s when the animal comes out.”

City officials say Arlington Animal Services officers have been patrolling the area, but they “generally do not remove urban wildlife unless there is a threat to public health.”
