Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced the commissioning of the first phase of electric buses.

10 buses will operate on 3 intercity lines. This operation is part of the emirate’s efforts to support the Climate Neutrality 2050 initiative.

Sharjah aims to promote green public transport and achieve environmental sustainability, according to SRTA.

Earlier, Abu Dhabi launched “green” buses on September 12, including both electric and hydrogen vehicles.

Anan Alamri, Section Chief in ITC’s Public Transport and Alternative Sustainable Mobility Business Sector, spoke about the initiative at the “Path to Net Zero Forum” organized by Khaleej Time August 27th.

The bus runs on route 65 between Marina Mall and Shams Boutik on Al Reem Island.
