CHSFL, independent football roundup – Newsday

Gary Merrill completed 16 of 24 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns and had 27 carries for 168 yards and three scores to lead visiting St. Anthony’s to a 35-27 win over Monsignor Farrell in CHSFL football on Friday night.

Will Hart caught six passes for 105 yards and a TD and Johnny Russo had three receptions for 89 yards and a score. Xavier Bala rushed 14 times for 78 yards and caught six passes for 26 yards. Parker McDonald had an interception and blocked a PAT. Matthew Forrest made all five of his PATs for St. Anthony’s (2-2).

Kellenberg 24, Fordham Prep 14: Jack Durso completed 9 of 19 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns and added 11 carries for 68 yards and a TD for visiting Kellenberg (1-3). Donovan O’Toole caught a 31-yard touchdown pass and Jack Geoghan had a 30-yard TD reception.

O’Toole returned two punts inside the Fordham Prep 20 yard line, and Christian DaCosta returned two kickoffs into Fordham territory.

Owen Cunningham made all three of his PATs and kicked a go-ahead 24-yard field goal to end the first half.

Nick Kramer, Geoghan and Vincenzo Cascone combined for 25 tackles, helping the Firebirds shut out Fordham in the second half.

Long Island Lutheran 40, Port Chester 7: Jacob Butler caught two passes for 25 yards, both touchdowns and returned a kickoff 84 yards for a TD to lead visiting Long Island Lutheran (3-0) in non-league. Peyton Robinson threw three touchdown passes, including a 45-yard score to Kameron Roy. Kareem Gray had five carries for 73 yards and a TD.

Trevor Benjamin Jr. had nine tackles and Lorenzo Riddick had two sacks. Kaiere Griffin recovered two fumbles and returned one of them for a 55-yard touchdown.
