West Ham United 0-3 Chelsea: Two goals from Nicolas Jackson and one from Cole Palmer secure victory at London Stadium

Nicolas Jackson scored twice as Chelsea condemned West Ham to a third consecutive Premier League home defeat.

Chelsea took the lead in the fourth minute after West Ham’s players disconnected from a free-kick and allowed Jadon Sancho to send Jackson through on the left.

Jackson left Edson Alvarez behind, then cut inside onto his right foot and threaded a low shot between the legs of Alphonse Areola.

The Hammers’ lack of intensity was evident again 14 minutes later when Moises Caicedo had time to set up Jackson again.

This time Jackson left Max Kilman behind and produced a clever finish with the outside of his boot, with Areola stuck in no man’s land.

Chelsea effectively wrapped up the game two minutes after half-time thanks to Jackson becoming the passer.

A quick counter-attack resulted in the Senegalese forward thwarting the retreating West Ham defence with a clever reverse pass, and Cole Palmer fired powerfully beyond Areola.

West Ham had already felt aggrieved when a strong penalty appeal – reviewed by VAR – was rejected after Crysencio Summerville fell to the ground following a tussle with Wesley Fofana.

Mohammed Kudus, West Ham’s most likely goal scorer, had the ball in the net before half-time but was flagged offside, and Jarrod Bowen forced Robert Sanchez into a good save at his near post after the break.

Chelsea’s win moves them within two points of Premier League leaders Liverpool, while West Ham languish in the bottom half of the table, three points above the relegation zone.
