Local businesses respond to mass shooting in Birmingham’s Five Points South neighborhood

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Local businesses are responding after four people were killed and 17 injured in a Mass shooting in Five Points South Saturday night.

Hush Lounge released a statement on its Instagram Sunday morning, saying it was deeply saddened by Saturday night’s shooting.

Rock City Church released the following statement following the mass shooting that injured 21 people.

Birmingham police say they believe several suspects drove into the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue, exited the vehicle and began shooting before getting back into their vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Authorities believe the shooting was not random and was an isolated incident where multiple victims were caught in the crossfire.

In a new briefing Sunday morning, Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond said he believes someone was paid to kill the targeted victim, and they believe the victim is among those who died.

Chief Thurmond and Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin urged the public to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest.
