Riccardo Calafiori cancelled out Erling Haaland’s opener with a superb left-footed strike from outside the area in the 22nd minute.

Walker and his team-mates were furious with Oliver as they believed the free kick leading to the goal was taken quickly after he was taken out of position to speak with the referee.

Sky Sports cameras initially missed the incident but replays showed Oliver had called the England defender over for a chat seconds before Thomas Partey brought on Gabriel Martinelli, who set up Calafiori’s goal.

And according to reports, Walker apparently reminded the veteran referee about the build-up to the goal during half-time.

Walker’s half-time protests were not echoed by Sky Sports cameras captured the scenes, but they were seen by BBC sports reporter Simon Stone.

He wrote on X: “Kyle Walker gives his views to Michael Oliver in the tunnel at half-time.”

Football fans sympathised with Walker after seeing replays of Oliver calling out to him moments before Calafiori’s wonder goal.

What will happen to Manchester City?

MAN CITY are favourites to win the Premier League title once again, but there is an elephant in the room that threatens to send the Etihad giants off course.

Sunsport MARTIN LIPTON discusses with the sporting director what the coming months might hold SHAUN CUSTIS….

Custis: So the big question: will there be a resolution this season?

Lipton:Yes… probably! We know that the case will start to be processed in October or November.

It will take at least a month to review the evidence, so I think we will have a result around March or April. But that’s where things start to get complicated.

Custis: Why so?

Lipton:If the result goes in City’s favour, that will be the end of the matter. They will be cleared. They will not have to take any sanctions.

But if City are found guilty, it will be the heaviest sanctions ever handed down by the Premier League.

I suspect that if they are found guilty they will be kicked out of the league or given a massive points deduction and a huge fine, meaning they won’t be in the Premier League next season.

“The referee waited a moment after the conversation before restarting play, as Kyle Walker was not yet in position when Gabriel Martinelli came on.”

Another said: “Replay shows Michael Oliver calling Kyle Walker over for a chat when Arsenal were awarded their free kick.

“He waited a bit before Arsenal took him but Walker claimed he wasn’t back in his position.”

Another pointed out: “The replays on Sky Sports clearly show referee Michael Oliver calling Kyle Walker over for a chat when Arsenal were awarded their free kick.

“Oliver didn’t explode straight away but Walker clearly showed he hadn’t got back into position when the pass was played to Gabriel Martinelli.

“We haven’t heard the last of it.

“I think Oliver is going to find out what the Manchester City fans reflect as he heads down the tunnel at half-time.

Some might say that Walker was simply too slow to get back into position after talking to Oliver.

Things went from bad to worse for City in first-half added time when Gabriel Magalhaes put the Gunners ahead with a header.

But Leandro Trossard’s second booking and the resulting red card for delaying the restart moments later meant they went into the second half with ten men.
