Watch 8 Bulls Escape From Pen At Massachusetts Rodeo; 1 Bull Still On The Loose

Eight bulls escaped from a rodeo at a Massachusetts mall and remained loose until most of them were caught nearly four hours later.

While seven of the eight escaped animals have been recaptured, one remains at large.

The bulls escaped from their pen around 12:30 p.m. Sunday during a rodeo event at Emerald Square Mall in Attleboro, about 40 miles south of Boston near the Rhode Island border, the North Attleboro Fire Department said in a news release Sunday.

“The eight bulls managed to escape their pen, cross the parking lot and jump over a fence surrounding the perimeter of the event,” the press release said. “The bulls then fled south of the parking lot toward the woods behind BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery.”

Video footage of the incident shows the bulls charging into a car park and jumping over a fence before heading towards a busy road. People can be seen rushing to safety as the bulls charge into the car park and knock down the fence.

The public is urged to “exercise extreme caution”

No injuries were reported and the rodeo, a one-day event at the mall, is under investigation, authorities said.

The eighth bull had not been located as of Monday morning and a search is ongoing. The North Attleboro Fire Department, in an email to USA TODAY Monday, said it had no additional information to offer.

Authorities advised community members to “exercise extreme caution and not approach the bull if they find it” and to immediately contact 911 if they see it.

Bulls found ‘stuck’ about 6 miles from shopping center

One of the bulls was caught shortly after escaping, while six other bulls were “found trapped behind a fence at a home” around 4:30 p.m. about 6 miles from the mall, the fire department said.

“North Attleboro Fire Department, North Attleboro Police Department, Attleboro Police Department and members of the Mall Rodeo and New England Rodeo were able to safely herd the six bulls into a trailer without further incident,” the news release said.

Chris Mooney, an Attleboro resident who saw the bulls walking down his street and into his yard, told NBC Boston he was shocked when he saw the animals in his yard.

“As soon as I stepped forward and looked out, I said these aren’t horses, these are literally bulls and oh my God,” Mooney told the local outlet. “Two of them were laying down and one was moving the fence trying to get out, and the rest of them were just sitting there.”
