Kiambu – Grief and sadness have taken over the family of a woman who travelled abroad in search of greener pastures.

Joyce Wangari Mungoya travelled to Saudi Arabia in May 2022 following a job opportunity, where she met her death.

Wangari remains silent for months

The woman died after being allegedly abused by her Saudi boss following a series of disagreements.

A post from Facebook user Vincent Kipkoech details his work in the Gulf to support his family.

“According to her family, Wangari left for Saudi Arabia to seek better prospects as a domestic worker. Her family contacted her agent in her home country after her phone went silent for months.

Due to the frustrations of her agents in Kenya, the family was linked to another Kenyan woman living in Saudi Arabia who silently tracked her last whereabouts, only to learn that Wangari was allegedly brutally murdered a few months ago by her employer,” the message read.

Wangari’s family demands justice for their loved ones

Wangari left a note at the agency’s office for a woman who appealed for help and requested urgent assistance to return to Kenya.

The note was a desperate plea for help over the mistreatment his wife was suffering, including the denial of food.

The grieving family has appealed to the government for help in getting justice for Wangari, who left behind three children, two of whom are in school.
