Murder Charges Filed in Farnhamville, Iowa, Girl’s Disappearance

A 21-year-old man accused of hiding the body of a missing girl has been charged with first-degree murder, according to a news release from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Nathaniel Bevers-McGivney is also charged with abuse of a corpse – failure to disclose known location, a class D felony. The case began around 11 p.m. Sunday, when someone reported Michele “Luna” Jackson, 17, missing from her Farnhamville home.

Her mother and another daughter encountered Bevers-McGivney while searching for Jackson. They reported that he was covered in blood and had the missing girl’s scooter and other personal items in his possession, according to court documents.

Police arrested Bevers-McGivney and questioned him about blood on his clothes. He asked to speak to an attorney and was transported to the Carroll County Jail while the investigation continued, according to court documents.

Law enforcement continued to search for Jackson during the investigation. His body was found around 9:12 a.m. in Farnhamville.

According to court documents, police believe Bevers-McGivney hid the body and failed to disclose its location to cover up a crime.

No further details about the circumstances of Jackson’s death were immediately available.

Farnhamville is a town of about 400 people. It is located in Calhoun and Webster counties. It is about an hour and a half drive northwest of Des Moines.
