East Waterboro man dies in workplace accident at Dayton Sand and Gravel

An East Waterboro man died Monday afternoon after being struck by a front-end loader at his workplace.

Cory Maddox, 43, was walking through the yard at Dayton Sand and Gravel when he was struck by the bucket of a front-end loader operated by a co-worker, according to Maine State Police.

Soldiers intervened and were unable to resuscitate him, police said.

The incident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Maine State Police, who said there were no signs of criminal activity.
