Kohberger’s Defense Team Files Dress Code Motion in Court

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The legal team representing Bryan Kohberger has filed a motion with the court to allow him to wear street clothes during upcoming public hearings.

Their request is cited as being “due to the public nature of the case and the wide dissemination of images of Mr. Kohberger,” according to the motion filed by defense attorney Anne Taylor.

She referred to a 1976 Supreme Court decision recognizing that a person wearing prison clothes could impact the presumption of innocence.

Numerous stories were told about Kohberger’s transportation from Pullman, Washington, to Boise, referring to Kohberger’s appearance and hopes to reduce the risk of harm, according to the motion.

The first hearing in Ada County will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.
