Dave Masonfounding member of classic rock band Traffic, has announced the cancellation of his fall tour after being diagnosed with an unspecified but “serious” health issue.

The guitarist and singer shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday (September 25), revealing that during a “routine” checkup, his doctor discovered a “serious heart condition” that would “require immediate medical attention” to correct.

According to the publication, Mason’s medical team expects him to make a “full and successful recovery” that will allow him to return to action next year.

“I’m sorry to have to cancel these dates, but it’s doctor’s orders,” he said in a statement. “I’ll be back, and better than ever, in 2025.”

In the meantime, anyone with tickets for their fall dates, scheduled through October, can contact their point of purchase for a refund.

The news about the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee comes days after he canceled the first two shows of the tour on doctor’s orders.

Fans were relieved that Mason’s condition was discovered before anything serious happened, with one writing: “Glad they caught it in time to do something. Praying for your speedy and full recovery.”

“Take your time coming back,” another said kindly. “We’ll wait for you. God bless you.”

Ringo Starr was also forced to cancel the remainder of his 2024 tour after consulting his doctors following a fresh outbreak of the illness, with his team saying: “Ringo has caught a cold and after consulting a doctor he has been advised to cancel these two remaining shows and rest,” with fans just hours before the first show was due to begin.
