Authorities investigating after Mansfield Middle School student arrested with air pistol and knife

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — In a letter to parents, Mansfield Public School officials said a student entered the school with a pellet gun and a knife Tuesday.

Principal Matthew McGuire sent the letter to parents Tuesday, which ABC6 obtained, and said one student became aware that another was in possession of an air gun and a knife, and they immediately notified the administration.

According to McGuire, the student and the weapons were secured and police were notified.

“Harold L. Qualters High School strives to maintain a strong partnership with families in order to provide the best possible education for students. Open communication is essential to this partnership,” the letter further states.

Police are investigating the situation and the student has not been identified.
