OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) – Authorities are asking the public to come forward with information regarding a 23-year-old double murder case.

Tramaris D. ‘Stank’ Bryant, 24, and Tyrone ‘Winchie’ Brooks, 28, were found in an Opelika residence with fatal gunshot wounds on September 28, 2001.

While officials followed several potential leads, the case remained unanswered.

“It’s been 23 years and it doesn’t get any easier,” said Connye Brooks-Smith, Bryant’s cousin. “There is still time for someone to come forward and tell the story of what happened. This little piece of information could be the one thing that breaks this case wide open.

The Opelika Police Department responded to the residence located in the 1100 block of Alabama Avenue. They saw a “large” amount of smoke coming from a mobile home after their arrival.

According to police, they were unable to enter the house due to the fire. They located the two victims inside after putting out the fire.

Crimestoppers of Central Alabama is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
