Awuzie will miss the team’s next four games, but will be eligible to return to action following their Week 9 game against the New England Patriots. The Titans have an early bye week this season, with a Week 5 bye.

Teenesee’s next four games are this Monday night against the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions.

To fill out the 53-man roster, the Titans signed linebacker Luke Gifford. He was temporarily elevated for the first three games of the season and played on special teams.

The Titans also signed defensive lineman McTelvin Agim to the practice squad.

Through three games so far this season, Awuzie has collected four combined tackles, including three solo tackles and an assist. This is his first season with the Titans after spending the last three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.

In three seasons in Cincinnati, he collected 156 total tackles, six tackles for loss, two interceptions which he returned for 42 yards, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 37 games and 32 starts.

Awuzie signed a one-year contract with the Bengals. He recorded his first career postseason interception against Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford early in the third quarter of Super Bowl 56.

This isn’t the first time Awuzie has found himself on injured reserve. He suffered a torn ACL in 2022, which cut his season short. That year, he played in eight games and recorded five passes defensed and 29 tackles.

Last season, his final with the Bengals, Awuzie recorded 57 total tackles and two tackles for loss.

Prior to his time with the Bengals and Titans, the Dallas Cowboys drafted him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, with the 60th overall pick. Awuzie spent the first four years of his career in Dallas.

He was drafted by the University of Colorado and was twice named to the All-Pac-12 second team. The Titans will miss Awuzie’s presence as they are ranked eighth in opponent passing percentage, second in opponent completion percentage, fourth in opponent passing yards and third in opponent passing yards. Opponent passing yards per game.
