Shania Twain brings glamor to the country music awards

Shania Twain has created many iconic looks over the years and she made sure to put it all on display with her statement dress for the People’s Country Music Awards on Thursday.

Channeling her inner Barbie, Shania updated the denim tuxedo for the glamorous evening and wore a fitted Levi’s backless dress with lots of sequins across the bust and a flared mermaid-style skirt.

She added matching denim gloves – because more is more – and the finishing Barbie touch with a ’60s-style blonde wig. Another look for the record books, Shania!

Speaking about the significance of her look, Shania said she was inspired by her grandparents’ country music stars who loved bejeweled pants and jeans.

Shania also helped make the outfit, telling E! News: “Isn’t that crazy? I love him. I was involved in the sketches, design, silhouette and everything. For me, it’s joy. It’s not about presenting something amazing, it’s about being a part of it.

Other stars who embraced a touch of sparkle that night included Kylie Morgan, who looked fabulous in a shimmering red dress with draped sleeves and a long train.

She attended the event with her husband and fellow singer Jay Allen, who took a more casual approach to the evening, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and pants.

Miranda Lambert, who was named icon that night and caused a stir with her husband Brendan McLoughlin, also brought a touch of glamor with her look.

The singer was blown away at being named an icon, telling the crowd: “It’s so weird for me to stand up here and hold an icon award. I mean, for me, an icon is the one that I grew up listening to.

“My dad played Jerry Jeff Walker, Merle Haggard, Guy Clark, John Prine. These are my icons. So the fact that I’m receiving this award tonight blows me away.

Another familiar, if not unexpected, face spotted on the red carpet was The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt.

Just days after addressing the viral video of her dancing in the hospital while her son was sick with RSV on a podcast, a heavily pregnant Whitney wore a form-fitting red dress to the country event.

Her dress had cutouts on the side and satin bows to frame her stomach as well as one on the shoulder. Whitney added gold shoes to complete her look.
