Hotel Lobby Candle Partners with Solage to Launch Napa Valley Candle

Hotel Lobby Candle presents its new Napa Valley candle in collaboration with Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection. Its new fall scent inspired by the harvest season is described as a warm, welcoming scent that brings together the soil of Northern California with the fruit of its vines and the French wooden barrels in which its world-famous wine ages. A tribute to Napa Valley, the iconic resort located in the heart of Northern California’s wine country, inspired Hotel Lobby Collection founder Lindsey Silberman to design this fall scent.

Silberman, former editor-in-chief of Town & Country, spent a decade as a writer and luxury travel expert before launching Hotel Lobby Collection in 2020. The brand was inspired by her “olfactory memories” of hotels five stars from all over the world. Unique and transporting, Hotel Lobby Candle’s scents, including candles, refillable reed diffusers and hand soap, are designed to create a refined hotel experience at home. “I first visited Solage on assignment for a magazine in 2014 and immediately fell in love, not only with the property, but also the landscape that surrounded it. When I returned in 2022, at the height of harvest season, it was even more magical than I remembered. There is a very specific scent that permeates the region during the grape harvest: locals and winemakers describe it as the rich smell of the soil just before the grapes are picked. It’s earthy, ripe, slightly sweet…and undeniably unique. I knew it was the type of scent that would make a stunning fall candle, and I also knew that if we were going to partner with a hotel to launch it, it absolutely had to be Solage. We started talking with the Auberge team shortly after my trip, and following the success of our collaboration with Hôtel Jérôme (an Auberge Resort), they immediately signed on,” she shared. .

Silberman’s process for creating the candles begins with the light bulb moment, usually when visiting a new destination or property. From there, she will begin to think about how she can translate the essence of a place into a scent and think about how visual elements could help support the scent’s story. “For the Napa Valley candle, everything came together pretty quickly: the scent notes, the packaging and the hotel seemed like a perfect marriage,” she explained. “The inspiration for the candle came not only from the warm and welcoming energy of the hotel, but also from the land itself and the process of making its famous wine: minerality of the earth, crisp air, ripe fruit, winding vines, oak barrels. One of the most memorable aspects of Solage, for me, are the abundant mulberries found throughout, so we knew the mulberry notes would also be an integral part of the scent. For the design, we really leaned into the rich color of red wine. The outer packaging and the container itself are a saturated shade of Cabernet. And as a special touch, we decided to include a small gift tag on each candle, inspired by the hotel’s iconic luggage tags.

For Solage, offering guests a way to capture their stay via candle is a way for them to bring home their favorite memories: “Fragrance has a way of bringing back our favorite memories, and we’re excited to help guests to relive their stay in Solage with the Napa Valley candle, inspired by our property. By lighting this candle at home, we hope it takes you back to those special times, whether it’s lounging by the pool, enjoying dinner at Solbar, or relaxing by the fire at sunset,” said Dave Elcon, general manager of Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection.

Fragrance notes include blackcurrant berries, French oak, sweet earth, crushed green leaves and mulberries. Guests will be able to experience the candle upon arrival in the reception area, spa and in-room mini-bar. The Napa Valley Candle will be available for purchase at all of these locations and online.
