Rashee Rice Injury Update: Chiefs WR Feared He May Have Torn ACL, Reports Say

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice had to be carried to the locker room after suffering an apparent knee injury against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4.

On a play in which quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception to Kristian Fulton in the first quarter, Rice and Mahomes attempted to tackle the cornerback near the sideline. Mahomes lowered his shoulder to try to make a play, but collided with the front of Rice’s right knee instead of hitting Fulton.

Rice needed help from medical staff to leave the field and then took a cart back to the Chiefs locker room. He was ruled out of the match and may have been seriously injured.

Rashee Rice Injury Update

Rice collided with his quarterback while attempting to tackle a Chargers cornerback following an interception. Mahomes appeared to hit the front of the receiver’s knee as he attempted to make a play, and Rice had to be carried to the locker room after needing help getting off the field.

Shortly after the game, several NFL insiders – including ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport – reported that the Chiefs were concerned that Rice had suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

The Chiefs ruled Rice out for the remainder of Sunday’s game. During the game, head coach Andy Reid told CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson, “it’s not good.”

After the Chiefs’ 17-10 victory, Reid said Rice would have an MRI on his knee Monday, but the outlook was not positive.

“I feel bad for Rashee,” he said. “We hope for the best.”
