A PDP leader in the local government area, Barnabas Chawai, confirmed the unfortunate incident to The Punch via a telephone interview on Sunday, September 29.

According to him, the two men were killed on Sunday evening while they were returning on a motorbike from a political campaign in Kizachi village of Pari district, Kauru LG.

He suggested that the killing could be politically motivated, urging security agencies to act and ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to justice.

“Drastic measures must be put in place to prevent this from happening again in the run-up to the October 19 local authority vote.

“The victim had three children and his wife was pregnant and expecting a fourth child,” Chawai said.

Additionally, Kizachi Village Head Secretary John Wanneh said they were with the victim around 6:00 p.m. and parted ways for him to return home to Bakin-Kogi.

“It was only after 10 to 15 minutes that we separated that we heard gunshots around some Guinea corn farms.

“Honestly, we cannot say who committed this crime or whether the killing was politically related or not,” Wanneh added.

At the time of writing this report, the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, was yet to issue an official statement regarding the development.

Similarly, Legit.ng reported that a leader of the ruling PDP in Oyo State, Otunba Benedict Akika, popularly known as “Benee” in Olohundaaba, was kidnapped.

Akika was allegedly kidnapped from his residence at Idi-Ape, along Akobo Ojurin-Olohunda road, Ibadan, the state capital.

The kidnapping incident was said to have occurred on Wednesday, September 5, in Lagelu Local Government Area of ​​the state.
