Céline celebrates French feminine icons for its summer 2025 collection

Entitled “UN ÉTÉ FRANÇAIS” or “A French Summer”, Hedi Slimane’s Céline Spring/Summer 2025 women’s collection is strongly inspired by “Indie Lolita” fashion. To celebrate the launch of the collection, the luxury brand unveiled a campaign video, to the tune of “Femme Fatale” by Nico and The Velvet Underground. Produced in the grand Château de Compiègne, an 18th-century royal residence built for Louis XV, the video opens with a young girl strikingly reminiscent of French actress and musician Juliette Gréco typing on a Céline typewriter. Soon after, we discover female models dressed in French fashion looks, with bold eyeliner, short bobs, bangs and timeless French hairstyles. It’s clear that Slimane took inspiration from icons like Françoise Hardy, reminiscent of her elegant eye makeup, and Gréco’s timeless fashion for this season’s collection.

Now let’s move on to the outfits. Slimane brings back the charm of uniforms, pleats and classic feminine suits. Think schoolgirl blazers and skirts, plaid aprons paired with headbands and mini bags, cropped blazers over knee-length skirts, and lightweight cashmere sweaters. The models’ sleek bobs swayed gracefully as they walked, exuding effortless elegance. For dresses, Slimane embodies the ’60s with charming babydoll styles, accessorized with scarves, pretty Céline headbands and cat-eye-inspired sunglasses.

A standout look from the collection that we love is the black slip dress adorned with black and white plaid and feathered tulle cascading from the chest down. The model is perfectly accessorized with Céline’s “Crystal-Drop” earrings, a simple black headband and a sparkling ring. The collection is proof that simplicity, when done well, can be infinitely chic.
