Freight train derailment causes major disruption to South East rail zone

Three passenger trains were canceled on Monday following the derailment of a goods train in the Chakradharpur railway division of the South Eastern Railway Zone, a railway spokesperson confirmed.

Although no injuries were reported, the derailment hampered train movement, blocking key lines and affecting the movement of other trains.

South Eastern Railway said the Tatanagar-Hatia Express, Tatanagar-Barkakana and Barkakana-Tatanagar passenger trains have been cancelled, while the Tatanagar-Dhanbad Express will leave Tatanagar at 7:30 p.m. instead of 3:30 p.m. Additionally, the Santragachi-Anand Vihar Express was diverted to pass through Kharagpur-Midnapore-Adra-Purulia.
