HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The state’s attorney’s office said the 15-year-old boy arrested in a fatal shooting outside the Citrus Park Town Center mall will be tried as an adult.

On September 14, HCSO said it determined that a fight between two groups of teenagers occurred following a planned “slapboxing” event in the parking lot. Some individuals met near the Red Robin restaurant, outside the shopping center. Detectives said that’s when a fight broke out and the shooting took place.

Deputies arrested the teen on Thursday, September 19. He was charged with second-degree murder, being a minor in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm.

Prosecutor Lopez said they also filed a motion to keep him in jail during the trial.
