Pockets of fog to start the day

Pockets of fog to start the day

We have a few forecasting questions to consider today, none of which are extreme, but certainly worth highlighting.

  • Morning fog
  • Shower timing
  • When the winds get windy

The first thing to appear is patchy fog this morning. The fog is most pronounced in southeastern Indiana and that’s where the NWS has issued a dense fog advisory until 9 a.m. But areas of fog will also be visible in Ohio and Kentucky.

Temperatures start in the mid 60s and reach 76 this afternoon. Skies will be mostly cloudy for much of the day, then we will enter the passage of the cold front later in the day.

Ahead of the cold front, isolated showers will develop in our area starting around 2 p.m. and continuing after sunset. Severe weather conditions are unlikely. Even thunderstorms will be difficult to find with this front passing through.

But the front will increase the winds this evening. After 6 p.m., winds will begin to increase from the northwest to 15 to 20 mph, gusting to 30 mph. Windy conditions will persist overnight, bringing cooler temperatures to the Ohio Valley and drier air.
