Steelers’ Najee Harris sends direct message to Justin Fields critics after Week 4 loss

Amid ongoing speculation regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback position this year, running back Najee Harris seemed tired of the media’s narratives.

The Steelers suffered their first NFL loss of the season in Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and after the game, Harris was asked about Justin Fields’ quarterback play, specifically in the second half.

Harris cut the reporter off and instead spoke about the importance of winning and losing together as a team.

“I think we as a team showed what we can do,” Harris said. “Not just a player. You still keep putting it in the hands of one person. It’s quite a team, there are all 11 of us. Stop making it just one player. You keep saying Justin, like he’s the one throwing, catching and running. Come on bro, it’s all of us. So what did we do, what did we see? I saw us all fighting. We as a team.

After being held to a field goal in the first half, Fields and the Steelers’ offense outscored the Colts 21-10 over the final two quarters in an attempt to come back, with Fields rushing for two scores and recording a touchdown by passes to tight end. Pat Freiermuth. However, it was too little, too late, as Pittsburgh was unable to overcome the initial deficit and saw its six-game regular season winning streak come to an end.

Despite the loss, Fields still defended the Steelers’ starting quarterback position, finishing with 312 passing yards and a passing touchdown as well as 55 rushing yards and his two rushing scores.

The Steelers (3-1) will look to bounce back under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football when they host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. With Russell Wilson nearing full health, expect Steelers coach Mike Tomlin to provide an update on quarterback work -starting fullback later this week.
