Jordan Clarkson Dropped His Hilarious Answer to Jazz Media Day Question

During the 2024 NBA offseason, the Utah Jazz made sure to let the league know what they thought of their All-Star talent Lauri Markkanen after throwing him a renegotiation and lucrative extension of up to five years for the keep it in Salt Lake City for the long haul. transportation, all at a cost of $238 million.

However, it’s not just those at the top who like what they see from him, as his Jazz teammates have made that clear by expressing the same sentiment around the seven-foot forward.

Most recently, former Sixth Man of the Year recipient Jordan Clarkson took to the podium during Monday’s media day to give some of his thoughts on Markkanen’s growth heading into the season at coming – specifically on why he thinks the former All-Star is ready to take the desired “next step” in his progression as a player.

When asked, Clarkson gave a brutally honest, yet hilarious answer:

“I mean, I don’t mean to swear, but the motherfucker was in the army… That’s an honest answer. He’s up for anything. Lauri is up for whatever you throw at him. He is ready for anything. I’m happy to see him more vocal. This new Lauri… yeah, I love it.

Clarkson is among those surrounding Markkanen who has had some of the biggest moments with him, as the 32-year-old goaltender was paired alongside him during his final two seasons in Utah, adding to his total of four and a half seasons with the Jazz – marking JC as the longest-tenured player on the roster.

Markkanen, a member of the Finnish Army during the 2022 offseason, is apparently preparing to take the next step toward becoming the franchise superstar the Jazz aspire to become. Markkanen played in 55 games for Utah last season averaging 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 rebounds with an efficient shooting split of 48.0/39.9/89.9.

The Jazz have made it clear that this season is focused on the development of their young players, but Markkanen will still be the focal point of this team and one of the key contributors on both sides of the ball. And if Clarkson’s comments suggest anything, we could be treated to a new and improved version of the Utah All-Star that could inevitably take him to that next level of stardom.

Markkanen and the Jazz’s return to the court is fast approaching, as their preseason opener is scheduled to begin against the New Zealand Breakers on Friday, October 5 at the Delta Center at 7 p.m. MT.
