Truck kills 6 family members in Zamfara

In a heartbreaking incident in Gusau, Zamfara State, six members of a family, including a couple and their four children, tragically lost their lives after being hit by a dumper truck.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Zamfara State Command, SP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the deaths, saying the victims included the parents and their four children. Although the specific gender of the children has not been revealed, losing an entire family in this manner has left the community in shock.

“We have arrested the driver involved in the incident and investigation is underway,” SP Abubakar said. “Once our investigations are complete, we will share our findings, but for now I can only confirm the event and the number of victims.”

Reports indicate the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a motorcycle carrying the family. Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating, with all six victims pronounced dead at the scene.

“It was a heartbreaking sight to see the entire family perish in this tragic way. I was overcome with emotion when I saw the lifeless bodies of the father, mother and their four children,” said a witness.

Concerns have been raised over the condition of the dump truck’s brakes, with witnesses suggesting that if they had been properly maintained the driver could have avoided disaster. “Many dumpsters in our area are not equipped with working brakes,” noted one observer.
