Adam Brody and Kristen Bell gave the people what they wanted: a good old-fashioned romantic comedy with a really good kiss.

The new Netflix series Nobody wants that skyrocketed to the top of the streaming charts after its release on September 26, and everyone is talking about one scene in particular. The show, inspired by the life of creator Erin Foster, is about an agnostic Los Angeles podcast host (Bell) who falls in love with a sexy, unconventional rabbi (Brody). The actors spoke to Yahoo Entertainment about their unusual chemistry and the pressure of having such a satisfying on-screen kiss.

“We were both, I think, a little surprised when we read (the) script where we were supposed to kiss, where it said it was going to be the ‘greatest kiss in the world,'” Bell admitted. She and Brody have previously worked together (Bullets, Cry 4,House of lies) and they say their friendship helped their chemistry, rather than making these scenes “weird” as some might think.

“I wouldn’t say it was weird,” Bell told Yahoo of kissing her friend.

“I wouldn’t say it was weird either,” Brody admitted.

“It was definitely comforting because…we had worked together before as love interests. We have enough mutual friends and we know each other’s spouses,” Bell explained, referring to her and the partners by Brody, Dax Shepard and Leighton Meester. “There’s…a comfort level, right? Because I can say anything to Adam. I know he can tell me something. There’s no strange energy between us.”

“Plus, after you’ve done the first one or done it a few times, then you’re in the zone,” Brody concluded. “We haven’t done any sex scenes, that’s a different kettle of fish.”

It didn’t take long for the kiss to dominate every corner of the internet. “Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s new romantic comedy features one of the best kissing scenes I’ve ever seen,” one headline read.

Foster was inspired by the characters of Matt Damon and Minnie Driver in Goodwill Hunt writing about the greatest kiss in the world. (Nobody wants that is loosely based on her conversion to Judaism for her husband Simon Tikhman.)

“When they go on their first date and they’re eating burgers and fries and they have food on their face, and they’re like, ‘Let’s have the first kiss.’ Let’s do it now and put it aside.” I thought it was such a different type of first kiss, and it was still so romantic but conversational and realistic and fun and flirty,” Foster told Entertainment Weekly. “I really wanted to create a moment that would give you those kinds of feelings of anticipation and excitement.”

Judging by social networks, mission accomplished since X seems delighted with the kiss.

Apparently, the kiss lived up to its hype in real life as well. Bell told TVLine that it was the best on-screen kiss she’s ever had.
